The storage options at the University of Freiburg were once again examined closely.
The exchange among the data stewards focused on the information collected on the respective storage solutions at the UFR, which will soon be available on the CDF homepage. With their expertise and experience, all data stewards make a significant contribution to the compilation and revision of information on various UFR services.
In the second half of the meeting, Jasmin Tesch provided an insight into her exciting work as a data manager in hydrology and also spoke about her challenges in database maintenance, in dealing with project-specific data management software, and in dealing with project staff. In the ensuing discussion, it became clear how important it is to establish agreements and guidelines in projects (including the selection of appropriate data management tools) before the project begins and to keep research and administrative data separate. The complexity of data storage became apparent in cases where the collected data can be used by several projects within an institute and cannot be precisely assigned at the time of collection.
We look forward to the next Data Stewardship Meeting in January 2026, and all interested parties are welcome to attend.
