Job Description for RDM Representatives at the Faculties and Research Institutions of the University of Freiburg
Responsibilities
The following tasks may fall within the scope of responsibilities of an RDM representative.

General availability to answer questions about research data management at the respective faculty or research institution and direct liaison with the Central Data Facility, with the RDM representative’s statements being binding.

Ensuring that research data management requirements are appropriately taken into account when planning infrastructure at one’s own faculty or research institution, in order to reduce potential follow-up costs resulting from non-compliance. The CDF should be involved in this process.

Clarifying responsibilities and establishing succession plans for data sets. For example, in the event of personnel changes at one’s own faculty or institution—such as the departure of staff—to prevent data loss or data abandonment. This responsibility includes determining a suitable storage location and, if necessary, responding to inquiries regarding GDPR regulations, archiving, or deletion. The CDF can be consulted for this purpose.

Collaborating with the Central Data Facility to develop solutions to emerging questions regarding research data management within one’s own department. Questions can be directed to the Central Data Facility or forwarded to appropriate external experts.
